Our Story
Courtney grew up just outside of San Francisco in Mill Valley, CA. She spent summers sailing in Southern California, winters in Vail,CO skiing with family, and many many days at various sporting events cheering on her 49ers, Dodgers, Lakers, and later on CU Buffs. She attended CU Boulder and fell deeper in love with the mountains there. After college she moved to Boston for work and got to experience what true fall was all about. Little did she know while she was living in Boston her future husband had grown up just down the road.
Zach grew up outside of Boston in Wayland, MA. He spent summers in Michigan with family, roadtripping to various National Parks with his parents and siblings, Ellison family camps, and winters in Snowmass, CO falling in love not only with skiing but telemark skiing (#freetheheel). Zach continued his adventures West and like many family members before him attended Stanford University where he made lifelong friends and made California his forever home.
Zach and Courtney shared many common interests and places before they met and so truly it felt meant to be when in the fall of 2021 they connected through Bumble. Zach was hooked by Courtney’s outdoorsy spirit, and Courtney couldn’t resist Zach’s great hair (yes, she had to ask if it was grown during COVID) and his easy, welcoming smile. Courtney quickly confirmed that Zach was on the West Coast to stay as she only recently moved back to California after her time on the East Coast and he confirmed he definitely was.
Their first “date” turned into a group ski-film outing at the Palace of Fine Arts, complete with hooting, hollering, and a post-movie drink with Courtney’s best friend. Nicole immediately declared that Zach was “the one” - and wants full credit for being right.
From there, weekends filled with Tahoe road trips, mountain hikes, and ski days made it clear they were a perfect match (and also confirmed that Peanut M&Ms are the ultimate car snack).
Fast forward to January 2025 in Antigua, where beachside chats about the future turned into ring shopping soon after. By March, during a birthday ski trip to Snowmass, Zach pulled off the surprise of a lifetime. In the middle of a snowstorm, at the top of their favorite run, Long Shot, he proposed—with a photographer there to capture it all. Courtney said yes through frozen happy tears, and they celebrated by skiing down the mountain, dreaming of the life ahead.
And now the adventure continues in Wyoming with a one of a kind weekend to bring all of you, their community, together to celebrate love, joy, and the start of their next chapter.
